Meet Ms. Engle

Katherine Engle is in her 5th year as the Associate Director of Choirs at Byron Nelson High School. Ms. Engle enjoys teaching choir and directing both the annual Northwest ISD Middle School Musical and vocals for the high school musical. Choirs under Ms. Engle’s direction have consistently earned Superior ratings at UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Contest. In the last four years, 13 of her students at Byron Nelson have earned a place in the TMEA All State Choir and each high school musical has received at least one nomination for Best Musical in local DFW competitions. In 2018, Ms. Engle and Mr. Sikon won Best Musical Direction in the Dallas Summer Musicals High School Musical Theatre Awards for the Byron Nelson musical production of The Addams Family.

Ms. Engle holds a Bachelors of Music in Music Education from Oklahoma State University where she studied under Dr. Z. Randall Stroope and a Masters in Music Education from the University of North Texas. While at OSU, she sang in the Chamber Choir and Concert Chorale traveling around the world performing in places such as Notre Dame Cathedral, Carnegie Hall, and St. John’s College in Cambridge, England.

Ms. Engle is a native Texan, born and raised in Fort Worth where she attended North Crowley High School.  She was very active in the choir program and was a 3-Year Texas All State Choir member.
