High schools combine for 12 Buckley theatre award nominations

Northwest ISD’s three comprehensive high schools – Byron Nelson, Eaton and Northwest – have combined for 12 nominations in the prestigious Betty Lynn Buckley Awards, one of the top competitions in the state for theatre.

Eaton earned the most nominations of the three schools for its performance of “James and the Giant Peach,” with six. The school earned nominations for best musical, best female supporting actor (Claire Summers as Aunt Spiker), best male lead actor (Ethan Dodson as The Ladahlord), best student orchestra, lighting design (Emma Chambers) and sound design (Jessica Crawford and Suzanne Dunning). 

 

Byron Nelson earned five nominations for its performance of “Guys and Dolls,” earning consideration in both group and individual categories. The Bobcats earned nominations in best musical, best male supporting actor (Jackson Lacefield as Nicely-Nicely Johnson), best female lead actor (Ella Richardson as Miss Adelaide), best male lead actor (Blayne Stonecipher as Sky Masterson) and scenic design (Ella Nagengast).

Northwest earned a best male lead actor nomination (Cameron Farris as Donkey) for its production of “Shrek the Musical.”
