Student safety is our primary concern for Bobcat Nation.

Request Early Release For Your Student
Early Release Requests - please read carefully: To ensure a smooth and secure early check-out process for all students, please review the following guidelines:
-
Email Required for Check Out Requests: A parent or guardian must email ByronNelsonHS@nisdtx.org to request an early check-out, This email must include the student's full legal name, and the exact date and time of the requested check-out. *The request must come from an email address listed at registration.*
-
If Someone Else is Picking Up Your Student: The parent/guardian must provide the full legal name of the authorized individual in writing. That person must present a valid photo ID when arriving at the school.
-
Please Allow One Hour for Processing: Passes will be prepared within one hour of the request. Students may pick up their pass during a passing period or lunch - not during instructional time.
-
Requests Must Be Made Within 24 Hours of the Check-Out: We cannot accept requests more than 24 hours in advance.
-
During Check-Out: The student will show their pass to their teacher at the scheduled time, then proceed to the Front Office, scan their student ID, and check out. *If a parent/guardian is checking out the student in person, they must present a valid photo ID.*
-
If a Student Feels Ill: They should report directly to the Clinic, where a campus nurse will assess and coordinate a check-out if necessary.
-
Without Advance Notice: Walk-ins and same-day requests will require patience. If your student is at lunch, PE, or Athletics, we may not be able to reach them until their next class period.
-
We Do Not Interrupt Classroom Instruction: To preserve classroom learning, we cannot call into classrooms or deliver passes during class. Please plan accordingly.
-
Emergency Situations: Contact your student's Assistant Principal's Office directly in case of an emergency. You will also need to follow up with a confirming email.
-
No Early Check-Outs After 3:30PM Without Prior Written Notice: Due to end-of-day procedures, we cannot process late check-outs without advance communication.
-
Reminder on Cell Phone Policy: Per new legislation, students are not permitted to use cell phones during the school day. Please make arrangements with your student before school regarding early check-out.
-
Phone Calls are Not Accepted for Early Check-Out Requests: All requests must be submitted via email as noted above.
-
Closed Campus Policy: Byron Nelson High School is a closed campus. Students may not check out for lunch.
Drop-Off Practices
- The campus prohibits delivery or drop-offs of meals or any non-essential items. This includes, but is not limited to: Door Dash, Uber Eats, Tiff’s Treats, floral arrangements, balloons, etc. (this also applies to lunches that students have forgotten at home).
- All items are subject to be searched.
-
If you choose to drop off an education-related item, please label the item, and notify your student the item is on the cart, just inside the main entrance. You will need to communicate via email with your student that the item is on the cart. The front office will NOT notify the student. It is your student’s responsibility to pick up their item during passing period or their assigned lunch period only. Any items that have not been picked up at the end of week, will be donated.
-
Money will never be an acceptable drop-off item.
Strategies for helping students
-
Students will not go hungry. Students can “charge” a lunch on their Aramark account. Parent/Guardian may also add funds to the student lunch account. Click here to access Online Payment instructions.
-
Forgotten homework/project: Parent/Guardian may take a photo of the item(s), email to the student to show to teacher as proof of completed work. It will be the teacher’s discretion to accept this method.
-
Please be aware if a student is checked out of school to get the item(s), then checks back in, they may be subject to disciplinary action.
Thank you for helping us prioritize student safety and protect instructional time. your cooperation and planning make a big difference.
